A Fairchild is an enormous tube limiter used by, among many others, engineer Geoff Emerick on Beatles' sessions in the 1960s. He used it on Ringo's drums, sending the whole kit into it, as well as vocals and other things (though for bass he apparently used an Altec compressor).May 15, 2009
