What is the difference between a header and a beam?

Header - One or more pieces of lumber used to support free ends of floor joists or to support the free ends of short joist, studs or rafters and transfer their load to other parallel joist, studs of rafters. Beam - A piece of timber, steel or other material placed horizontally to support a load.
