The original standard for power on a USB port, going back to USB 1.0, was 5V ± 5%. ... More recently, the USB 3.1 Power Delivery Specification allows a USB port to supply 5V up to 20V at up to 5A over an appropriate connector (older USB ports can't support 5A).
