PoE is being standardized in IEEE 802.3at. PoE implements two ways of supplying DC power over the Ethernet cable. In mode-A the wire pairs which are also used for data transmission are used to supply the power. This would be pairs 2 and 3 (pins 1,2 and 3,6).
