February 27, 2012 ELPIDA, Japan's largest dynamic semiconductor memory (DRAM) manufacturer, announced that it filed a bankruptcy petition with the Tokyo District Court. As of the end of March last year (2011), Elpida’s total liabilities were 448 billion yen (approximately US$5.5 billion), setting a new high for Japanese manufacturing companies' bankruptcy liabilities.
