Based in Ottawa Canada, Tallysman is focused on high function, high performance technology and solutions. Our core competencies include digital wireless networks, RF and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) component design.

Management Team

Gyles Panther – President and Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Panther is truly a technology industry veteran with over 30 years engineering and corporate management experience.  Tallysman™ marks the 4th successful start-up by Mr. Panther.  Starting with a stint at the legendary Microsystems International, Mr. Panther has held the position of Engineering Vice-President for Siltronics Ltd., then SiGEM and Wi-Sys Communications all of which he was a co-founder and principal, and has accumulated 10 patents to his credit.

Throughout his career, Mr. Panther has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovative product development, real product utility, and fundamentally sound fiscal corporate management practices.  Mr. Panther was co-founder of the Canadian Semiconductor Design Association (CSDA) and holds an Honours degree in Applied Physics from City University, London, England.

John Seymour – Co-Founder & Director Wireless Infrastructure Products

Mr. Seymour has over 25 year’s experience in Engineering, Product Management and Business Development experience in the Wireless Data Communications sector.  Mr. Seymour has extensive experience in the GPS, Cellemetry and the Telematics market sector, as well as extensive experience in the development of Fleet Tracking, Mapping and Dispatching systems, and Data Communications systems operating over conventional radio networks.

Prior to joining Tallysman, Mr. Seymour served as Program Manager, Engineering Manager and Business Development Manager at Wi-Sys Communications, Mobile Knowledge, Sigem, Gandalf Mobile, Avery Hardoll, Plessey and Marconi. Mr. Seymour holds a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Portsmouth University in the U.K.

Micah Grinstead – Director, Operations

Mr. Grinstead has over 25 years’ experience in Operations, on and offshore manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Documentation and Configuration Control, New Product Introduction and Program Management.  Throughout his career, Mr. Grinstead has proven to be very proficient at developing and managing supply chains, global sourcing, building strong vendor relations, building and managing effective production teams, as well as implementing successful cost reduction programs.

Prior to joining Tallysman, Mr. Grinstead served as Quality Assurance Manager at Wi-Sys Communications, Vice President of Operations at Simmic, Operations Manager at Dowslake MicroSystems and at GDI in Hong Kong, and has held progressively senior positions at SiGEM, Cygnus Satellite Systems, SilCom Research, Silcom Communications, and Siltronics.

John Heckman – Co-Founder & Chief Designer, Wireless Infrastructure Products

Mr. Heckman has over 35 years’ experience in the design and management of software systems, including 15 years in hardware logic design.  Mr. Heckman brings extensive experience in both the design and project management of highly reliable operation systems for vessel management and airport control.  Mr. Heckman spearheads Tallysman’s Infrastructure products design team, which produces sophisticated forward error correcting communication protocols for asset tracking products using cellular, satellite, and private radio channels, employing state of the art DSP and ASIC solutions.

Prior to Tallysman Wireless Mr. Heckman has held key Engineering positions at Wi-Sys Communications, Mobile Knowledge, SIGEM, Cygnus, Silcom Research and Microsystems International, and was a co-founder of Nanotec Limited.  Mr. Heckman studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Chicago.

Allen Crawford – Director Marketing & Sales, Antennas and RF Products

Mr. Crawford has over 25 years’ experience in Marketing and Sales with various high technology companies. He is highly focused on customer satisfaction, often requiring unique approaches to achieve this. His unique combination of technical acumen and marketing/sales ability is invaluable to supporting the Distribution channels of Tallysman.

Prior to joining Tallysman, Mr. Crawford had marketing and sales experience with Telesat Canada, Marconi Communications, ECI Telecom, fONOROLA, AFORE Solutions and MDS Aero Support. Mr. Crawford has a Bachelor of Business Administration and Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta with a concentration in Quantitative Methods.
