Marktech Optoelectronics

Marktech was founded in 1985 in Latham, New York. The founding members came from National Semiconductors Optoelectronic Division and our business model was predicated on the assumption that LEDs and other opto devices were intrinsically different from silicon based components in that when the customer designs in a Component or IC they are assured that they can purchase product from multiple sources and receive a product that meets all JEDEC specifications. Optoelectronics on the other hand does not conform to direct second sources. An LED, IR emitter or Display can have different wavelengths, power outputs, different lead frames, forward voltages and many other characteristics. They can also react differently when exposed to environments with harsh climates.

This fact was one of the reasons that Marktech was predicated on services not generally offered at the distributer level. In the very beginning, Marktech was instrumental in working with test equipment manufacturers to focus on optical characteristics such as wavelength sorting and power output binning. Our initial goal was not only to be able to test for all electrical and optical characteristics in a timely manner but to be able to examine all optical components from the die level on up. Our engineering and testing expertise is one reason that we were appointed as the Exclusive Value Added Distributor for Toshiba America in the early 90s. Today Marktech is a Cree Solutions Provider for High Brightness LEDs and Materials. We also manufacture our own line of Visible and IR Sensors, Photo Detectors and InP epiwafers which can be viewed on our products page.
